The papaya seed extract-treated cells exhibited a significant increase in Casp-3, p53, and CyCs expression levels. In contrast, the down-regulation of the antiapoptotic Bcl-2 gene expression level in colon Caco-2 cancer cell lines demonstrates the effectiveness of papaya seed extract in inducing apoptosis in the colon cell line.
