PPC affects the Th1/Th2 pattern of cytokine expression in aged mice. Aged B6C3F1 mice were provided PPC (5 or 50 μg/mL) or DHEAS (100 μg/mL) ad libitum for 25 days. The splenocytes from these mice were then cultured in the presence of 5 μg/mL concanavalin A for 48 h. The culture supernatant was examined by ELISA for the levels of IL-4, IL-10, IL-12, and IFNγ.
