S. jambos is an inhibitor of PDI activity. Turbidity assay was used to measure the degree of inhibition of S. jambos extracts (50 mg/ml) compared to well-known PDI inhibitors at maximal concentrations. Phenylarsine oxide (PAO,16.8 μg/ml), bacitracin (Bac, 1.4 mg/ml), and Rutin (0.6 μg/ml) in the presence of 5 μg purified PDI. PBS was used as vehicle for 100% PDI activity.
