Effect of CA treatment on 5′-flanking regulatory region of antioxidant response element (ARE) in HepG2 cells. HepG2 cells were transfected with the pGL4 luciferase plasmid (luc2p/ARE/Hygro). They were then treated with various concentrations of CA—or not at all—and 0.3 mM of t-BHP. Luciferase activity was then measured in HepG2 cell lysates. Values are expressed as mean ± standard deviation (n = 3). Different letters indicate signification differences at p < 0.05 by Tukey’s studentized range tests
