Lipid peroxidation levels in control and berberine-treated cells of C. albicans and their isolated membranes. Berberine induced dose-dependent increase in TBARS /MDA level as a measure of lipid peroxidation. Cells were treated with berberine (1/4×MIC, ½×MIC and 1×MIC) and the level of lipid peroxidation was assessed in complete cells and membrane preparations. MDA concentration was determined using the TBARS assay. The data are presented as mean values ± SD (*p < 0.01; **p < 0.05; ***p < 0.001).
