From: Anti-lipoapoptotic effects of Alisma orientalis extract on non-esterified fatty acid-induced HepG2 cells

Fig. 4

Bcl-2-associated X protein (BAX), and B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) mRNA expression levels. Inhibitory effect of AOE on lipogenesis-related mRNA expression in HepG2 cells. mRNA expression level was measured using SYBR green qPCR. Cells were starved for 16 h, treated with 0.5 mM NEFA for 24 h, and then 300 μg/mL AOE for 24 h. Total RNA was then extracted and reverse transcribed using PCR and qPCR. Fatty acid synthesis-related a, b gene expression level was calculated using GAPDH expression level as an internal control. Statistical significancy was determined using Student’s t-test. Values are mean ± SEM, ## p < 0.01 compared to control, ### p < 0.001, *** p < 0.01 compared to NEFA-treated group. AOE, Alisma orientale extract; NEFA, non-esterified fatty acid; qPCR, real-time polymerase chain reaction; GAPDH, glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase
