Effect of clay mixtures on M. ulcerans growth in vitro. M. ulcerans was incubated with a 10 % suspension of clay in supplemented M7H9 broth at 32 °C. After 7, 14, 21, and 28 d, survival was determined by plating samples on supplemented M7H10 agar and incubation at 32 °C to determine viable CFU. M. ulcerans growth in supplemented M7H9 broth is shown as a control. Data represent three independent experiments performed in triplicate, and results are expressed as mean ± SEM. ****, p < 0.0001; ANOVA, Tukey’s multiple comparisons
