From: Neuroprotective effects of Liriope platyphylla extract against hydrogen peroxide-induced cytotoxicity in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells

Fig. 1

Liriope platyphylla extract (LPE) exerted neuroprotective effects against H2O2-induced cell loss in SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells. a SH-SY5Y cells were seeded in 96-well plates (5 × 104 cells/ml) and cultured for 24 h. Cells were treated with the indicated concentrations of LPE for 24 h. LPE treatment at concentrations up to 50 μg/ml had no significant effect on SH-SY5Y cell viability. However, high LPE concentrations (100 – 500 μg/ml) decreased cell viability. The values shown are means  ±  standard errors (SE; n  =  8). *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01 compared to vehicle b Neuroprotective effect of LPE against H2O2-induced cytotoxicity in SH-SY5Y cells. Cells were pretreated with LPE for 6 h, and then co-treated with LPE and 100 μM H2O2 for 24 h. The values shown are means  ±  SE (n  =  8). **p < 0.01, compared to vehicle without H2O2, ##p < 0.01, compared to vehicle with H2O2
