From: Attenuation of early liver fibrosis by herbal compound “Diwu Yanggan” through modulating the balance between epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition

Figure 3

DWYG treatment inhibited EMT and promoted MET in the fibrotic livers of rats induced by CCl 4 . (A) The mRNA expression levels of E-cadherin and Vimentin in the liver tissues of different treated group rats were detected by quantitative real-time RT-PCR. Delta-delta-CT was calculated as described in Materials and methods, considering GAPDH as internal control and blank control group as reference control. Data represent the means and standard deviation of 3 independent experiments. *p < 0.05 vs. CCl4-induced model group. (B) The protein expression levels of E-cadherin and Vimentin in the liver tissues of different treated group rats were analyzed by Western blotting. Anti-β-actin blotting was used as control for equal protein loading. Selected blots from one typical experiment are presented. The bar graph represents the densitometric analysis of the bands in 3 independent experiments. #p < 0.05 vs. blank control group, *p < 0.05 vs. CCl4-induced model group.
