Changes in fecal levels of supplemented probiotic bacteria. DNA from fresh stool was amplified using primer sets specific to the supplemented bacteria and also using universal r16S primers to derive total fecal bacterial content. The number of r16S copies of each probiotic species in relation to one million total fecal r16S copies was calculated and the change in this value from baseline to day 28 shown here.
