60 women with vaginal bleeding of less than 24 hours recruited between 5 and 27 gestational weeks from hospital clinic.

Women allocated to two treatment groups with each group receiving a different style of acupuncture -once a day for ten days.

Reported as a 90% live birthing rate in one group compared to 60% (p < 0.01). No attempt to stratify women for confounding variables of maternal and gestation age.
